Clinical engagement

Our IHP team includes two Clinical Liaison Managers, Alex Gallagher and Caroline Mulholland. Alex and Caroline are a key part of our team and between them they have more than 50 years’ experience working directly in the NHS, Alex as a nurse leading service transformation, and Caroline as a qualified healthcare planner delivering capital projects in live clinical environments.

With this first-hand knowledge and experience they know exactly how Trust teams feel when faced with major service developments and construction projects alongside ‘business as usual’. They work closely with clinical and operational teams throughout the design process, acting as guardians of the clinical vision and strategy. In leading stakeholder engagement, they will ensure that the brief and design is patient focused and provides a working environment for staff that is well-organised, efficient and benefits each individual clients’ ways of working.

With a detailed understanding of both clinical and construction requirements Alex and Caroline act as ‘translators’ between the IHP team and clinicians ensuring that safety, clinical care and efficiency, and staff environments are not unduly affected by construction works. They are also responsible for facilitating the pre- and post-occupancy evaluation for Projects establishing the objectives, monitoring their delivery and capturing lessons learned.
