Basil Ward Becomes Eleventh Successful Estate Improvement Scheme

Our teams have celebrated completion of the Basil Ward project at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, making it the eleventh scheme the team has delivered for the Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Trust. Every one of these projects has been handed over to the Trust either on time or ahead of programme.
Basil Ward, which has comprised a full redevelopment to provide 29 new inpatient beds, was completed three weeks early.
As with all the previous schemes undertaken across the live hospital campus, Basil Ward has been successfully delivered with minimal disruption, whilst all existing hospital operations have remained live.
VINCI Building’s Adrian Leigh, who has headed up the IHP project team that’s worked with the Trust since 2012, said: “In the past twelve years we’ve delivered in the region of £50m worth of estate improvements in partnership with Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust through the P21+ Framework.
“Having secured the re-procurement appointment to be the Trust’s P22 Framework partner in 2022, we’ve been able to continue to support the Trust and build on our excellent working relationships.
“This latest scheme of work at Basil Ward is the first project completed under the P22 programme and follows our team’s excellent track record of delivering projects ahead of schedule. The increased bed capacity it provides, will help the Trust meet the pressures of the winter season.”
